I want to think about how this relates to why people go into animal rights/animal liberation work, especially when the same people have been poor allies to people of color, etc. This is not a question I came up with on my own; a friend posed it to me when we were talking once about animal liberation work going on that managed to be racially foolish.
It’s also a question I ask a lot when I see white people brand themselves anti-racist but then only seem interested in having white people in their social lives, families, work settings, etc. It just makes me ask, What are you here for?

I guess I find this completely applicable to the Amanda Marcotte thing; this is WHY her joining in on the conversation on Rihanna and domestic abuse is so problematic.
